On March 24, 2012, Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Shahjalal Fertilizer Plant was held in West Bengal Wright Province,  Bangladesh Prime Minister Madam Hasina, Chinese Ambassdor to Bangladesh Mr. Li Jun,Bangladesh Minister of Industry, Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Finance attened the  ceremony. As the representative of general contractor, Chairman Zou Baozhong was invited to attend the ceremony.

Prime Minister Hasina and ambassdor Li Jun delivered speeches at the ceremony respectively. Ambassdor Li Jun said that the Shahjalal Fertilizer Plant will not only increased the domestic producitivity of chemical fertilizer but laso play an important role in the development of agriculture and economy of Bangladesh, meanwhile, it will deepen the bilatarel economic cooperation. Prime Minister Hasina expressed his appreciation on the financial support from China.

Vice President of COMPLANT Mr. Li Fengwei, president of BCIC and about 1000 people from all walks in Bangladesh attended the ceremony.

The construction work will officially start after all relevant agreements taking effect in accordance with the PCA.
